Media personality Dotun has labeled Nigeria a "republic of docile people," following intense backlash over his call to boycott South African singer Tylas upcoming Lagos concert. Dotun sparked heated debate on X after warning that any Nigerian attending the December eventgiven the history of xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africalacks self-respect. While critics argued that a boycott promotes continental disunity, Dotun doubled down by citing the 2019 Burna Boy controversy. He reminded critics that the public failed to defend Burna Boy when the superstar faced death threats for speaking out against xenophobia in South Africa.
