“You are one sickness away from the grave in Nigeria” — Lasisi Elenu calls out poor healthcare system

 Nigerian comedian Lasisi Elenu has criticised the countrys healthcare system, saying Nigerians are often left helpless when they urgently need medical attention. In an emotional video, Lasisi called on President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other governors to urgently address the state of healthcare in Nigeria. He questioned why patients in need of urgent care are sometimes turned away from federal hospitals because of a lack of bed space. I have seen people experience things in this country called Nigeria and it just lets you know that you are one sickness away from the grave, he said. Lasisi recalled how his mother lost her life in 2022 after being moved between federal hospitals, with the family repeatedly being told there was no bed space. He also criticised the treatment some patients and families receive from medical workers and the number of doctors leaving the country. Before you can get a bed space in a federal government hospital in Nigeria, you have to know somebody that knows somebody that knows somebody, he said. He called for better-equipped hospitals, improved organisation and a healthcare system that genuinely prioritises human lives. Watch video below:     View this post on Instagram           A post shared by Lindaikejiblog (@lindaikejiblogofficial) The post You are one sickness away from the grave in Nigeria Lasisi Elenu calls out poor healthcare system appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
