Katsina United Football Club has announced the death of its newly signed player, Ozoh Chinedu, following a medical emergency during a pre-season friendly against Niger Tornadoes FC at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina. The club announced the death in a statement published on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. According to the club, Chinedu became ill during the friendly and was immediately attended to before being rushed to K-Dara Specialist Hospital in Katsina for urgent medical treatment. The club said the player, despite efforts to save his life, later died in the early hours of Tuesday. The player was immediately attended to and subsequently rushed to the nearby K-Dara Specialist Hospital for urgent medical attention.
