Mastercard appoints 19-year insider, Yasemin Bedir, as EEMEA head

Mastercard, a global financial services company, has appointed Yasemin Bedir as President of its Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) operations.
In her new capacity, she would be responsible for Mastercard’s operations in about 81 countries, including Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and Egypt, amongst others. She would be working alongside financial institutions, fintechs, businesses, governments, and retailers across the region.
Bedir joined the company in 2007 and has held positions in different countries and regions, including Turkey, Azerbaijan, and North America. Most recently, she served as Division President for Eastern Europe for four years.
“This is a vast and complex region that demands creative thinking, proven results and strong relationships. Yasemin has delivered that throughout her career,” stated Sachin Mehra, Chief Business Officer at Mastercard
She succeeds Dimitrios Dosis (now Chief Commercial Payments Officer) and leads Commercial & New Payment Flows. “We will build on the strong foundation the regional team has created under Dimi’s leadership over the past five years,” Bedir stated
Earlier in her career, Bedir worked at HSBC, Garanti Bank and Yapı Kredi in Turkey. She is among the Founders of the Professional Women Network (PWN) and leads many projects to help SMEs grow.
