Naira records N8.21 appreciation against dollar in first week of September

The Nigerian naira appreciated by N8.21 against the United States dollar in the official foreign exchange market during the first week of September 2026.   Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria shows that the naira closed trading on Friday, September 4, 2026, at N1,321.22 per dollar, compared to N1,329.43 recorded at the start of the month.     Across the first four trading days of September 2026, the local currency gained N8.21 against the dollar in the official foreign exchange market.   Meanwhile, in the parallel market, the naira remained flat at N1,400 per dollar over the same period, according to Bureau de Change operators in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.   The performance comes as Nigerias foreign exchange reserves rose to $54.08 billion on September 3, 2026, up from $53.81 billion in August.  The post Naira records N8.21 appreciation against dollar in first week of September appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
