The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old suspect for alleged impersonation and attempted armed robbery after he was caught chasing a victim with a toy pistol in Katsina metropolis.
The incident occurred on 22nd August 2026 at about 7:00 p.m., when police received information that the suspect was pursuing a yet-to-be-identified person while brandishing what appeared to be a firearm in an attempt to rob the victim.
Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives, in collaboration with members of the local vigilante group, tracked and arrested the suspect at about 8:00 p.m. on the same day at Kofar Sauri, Katsina.

According to the police, the suspect failed to give a satisfactory explanation of how he came into possession of the exhibit during preliminary interrogation. He is currently in police custody while investigations continue.
In a statement signed and issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Abubakar Sadiq, said the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, Ali Fage, commended members of the community and the local vigilante group for their vigilance and timely cooperation, which led to the arrest.
The Commissioner urged residents to remain alert and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to eliminating crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across Katsina State.
