President Tinubu presides over first FEC meeting since June 29

President Bola Tinubu is presiding over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the State House in Abuja. The meeting commenced with the national anthem after the President arrived at the Council Chamber at about 2:30pm on Wednesday, August 19,  to chair the session attended by Mr Akume; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; members of the Federal Executive Council; presidential aides and heads of government agencies. Shortly before the commencement of the meeting, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, called for a minute's silence in memory of two former members of Council who passed on between the last meeting and today. They were Abubakar Alhaji, who served as Minister of Finance under the Ibrahim Babangida administration and died on July 30, 2026, and Prof. Turner Isoun, former Minister of Science and Technology under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, who died on July 15, 2026. At the last FEC meeting on June 29, convened after a break of more than two months, Tinubu swore in two new Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission: Amina Gamawa, representing Bauchi State, and Abdullahi Mukhtar, representing Kaduna State, shortly before the council session commenced. At the time of filing this report, details of Wednesdays FEC meeting are yet to be disclosed.  The post President Tinubu presides over first FEC meeting since June 29 appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
