Lagos police probe viral video of physical clash between officers and youths in Surulere

The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video capturing a physical confrontation between law enforcement officers and a grou of young men in the Surulere area of the state. The video, which circulated widely across social media platforms on Saturday, September 5, 2026, shows a tense altercation. While the events leading up to the incident remain unclear, the footage depicts a young man and a police officer tightly gripping each others shirts during a physical shoving match. Reacting to the development via the command's official X handle, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that an inquiry is underway.
