Newborn miraculously found alive after being thrown into airport trash can

A newborn baby was found abandoned in a sanitary trash can at an airport toilet in Malaysia. The baby boy, who was found alive, was heard crying by a cleaner who alerted police at Penang International Airport on August 31. Distressing footage shows the infant lying inside the bin, which was lined with a blue plastic bag, as he cried. He still had his umbilical cord attached to the placenta, which dangled as airport staff lifted him out to safety. Cleaning staff heard cries coming from a sanitary bin in a toilet designated for people with disabilities and called police, Southwest District police chief Anuwal Ab Wahab said.  The newborn was taken to Penang Hospital for treatment and was found to be healthy. Officials said he was in a generally good condition.  Authorities reviewed CCTV footage from the airport and later arrested a 23-year-old woman and a 22-year-old Burmese national who works as a security guard. The man was detained to assist with investigations into the case, and he was also found to have failed to produce valid travel documents, the police chief said. "The case was being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code, which relates to the abandonment of a child under 12 by a parent or person having care of the child." Anyone convicted of abandoning a child under 12 can face up to seven years in prison, a fine, or both. The two suspects have not yet been established as the babys parents, while forensic tests are being conducted to determine their relationship to the newborn. Investigations are ongoing. The post Newborn miraculously found alive after being thrown into airport trash can appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
